Got some songs you like… but hate the lyrics. Restyle! I was thinking of this for some time now. But I’ve asked my friend Lars to do some work on old tunes. In order to widen the portfolio. The more, the better!

So last night I was in Amsterdam… 3rd time in one week. But had a great time. Just enjoying the sun and the city. No concert this time;) Also spend some time in this really cool bar and of-course in great company. No wonder I’m a bit tired… raced trough the last week. Time-out, crash down and just… ease it down.

Anyways… tonight I crashed at home. Which is nice. Just listening to some DMB live shows and just rest… for a while. Tomorrow a new day and already a busy day as I know now

Some of the pictures I took over the last few years. Thought it would be fun to include them here. Haven’t shot that much though… lately. Guess I’m going to start again in Paris. Yesterday I made some shot’s for the album cover and the front cover is really really great. It exactly points out the meaning of the album. But I’ll keep that one in the vault for a while though…

Also…

“A view of other windows” came in this week. I was waiting for that! And today I finally had the time to browse trough this one. And it’s a really cool photo book. I was amazed by the fact that there even was a picture in it from the 2006 Paradiso show.

Anyways, the apartment is clean again and I did even find some time to record a new tune. Sounds like it’s going to be the album closer. I’m at 43 minutes now and that’s just the acoustic part. Not that every tune is going to make it… but at least we have some choices to make in the fall.

We’ll I’m going to make another cup of tea and listen to “Under The Table And Dreaming” from the D.M.B. That’s post number 2 in for today. It has been a while since I… well what ever.

An amazing week!

This is all going so fast… Monday I was with my friends @ the Paradiso in Amsterdam watching the Blackbox Revelation. Which was kinda cool… or to be more honest… pretty amusing. Wednesday I went to the Dave Mathhews Band in the HMH in Amsterdam which was amazing. What a show and what a gig. It was the third time I went to see them, but this time they really blew me away. I also did/fixed/arranged this other really cool thing this day but I’ll talk about that later… if I don’t forget.

Anyways… Thursday I went out with my friends and we had dinner in the city and a few beers. As we discussed baby buggies and red pants… don’t ask. But we had a great time. And so Friday… as in yesterday after work I was kinda tired. So I slept for about 10 ten hours till 8 ‘o clock this morning. And so Tonight I’m going to Amsterdam… again;) and tomorrow I’m planning nothing… absolutely nothing. Just me, some movies and my guitar.

So to conclude this week so far… it’s a fucking blast. Oh I got a year contract at my job. So what’s the secret thing than? Can’t say, won’t tell, won’t spoil and can’t whisper… later!!

Blackbox Revelation

So I’m going to see them at the Paradiso in Amsterdam tomorrow. And I’m looking forward to it. Last time I saw them was at Werchter 2008, so it’s about time. Although their new album is out.. I haven’t had much time to listen to it. So we’ll do that tomorrow.

In other news… the trip to Paris is booked and me and my friend also got tickets for Tom Mcrae in Paris. Looking forward to that soo much. Love the city and would be amazing to see Tom perform there. It’s really nearby the grave of Jim Morrison so my guess is that we’ll pay him a visit as well. My friend is a huge Doors fan… and I also like to see Père Lachaise again. I don’t know why but it has this vibe… this atmosphere that really impresses me.

Well that’s the last for February… see you in March!

So I got these great songs. I was listening to some of the demo’s last night and I was a bit stunned. The are some songs coming that are going to be very good, well… compared to the earlier;)

Well… I guess I’m serious. August for instance is a great track. The only thing is that I always seem to fuck up during recording it. Always miss a tone… go a bit to high. And believe me… the demo has almost made it here for at least a few takes. But every time I hold back. I guess that’s growing up. Not posting every breath on-line… which I’d have to delete a few hours later due to the fact that I’m not satisfied yet.

So I’m just taking my time. And there it is… lol! I’m growing up.

PS. anyone got the new Tom Mcrae record? You should… you really really should.

February 20th…

Last night me & Lars stumbled around town till sometime I can’t really remember. We had so much fun @ Pothuys & Stairways and other various spaces & places. As from last night I think Lars is Lazystar’s manager. Which is kinda cool. And now it seems I have to prepare for an one hour set in Utrecht some time this summer. Date and location will be announced when stuff is final and prepared.

So now I’m stumbling through the collection expanding the set list to a 30 something songs. 30 something songs I want to play and have to learn inside out and make a plan to perform them with as limited sources as possible. Which is fun and scary at the same time. But the good news is that I found some recordings I completely forgot about and who might just fit the album and make it a various listen. So for now I’m just spending some time with recordings and I going to buy a textbook today to write down all them finished songs. Would be cool to have a complete Lazystar songbook. The very best of his laziest hits or something like that.

Anyways I have posted one of those 2005 demo’s below and I will post some others over the coming days. I have this one song a day limit on this site (who invented that?) so be patient with me here…

February 18th…

Opened up a bottle of Merlot and just watched Lost while testing some new things on the Hummingbird. Got a new chorus and verse which is pretty ……. cool. Yet another completely different song, but again a good one. The last few weeks were very promising in writing as I’m quite on a roll here.I also made the decision to plan some gigs in the summer for the Autumn (that sounds weird). Anyways, they’ll be in the Autumn.

But now… I’m kicking it back with “Jacksonville City Nights” a.k.a. JCN. Such an amazing album. A true inspiration one could say. Last night I was watching the documentary “September” from Danny Clinch from this album and it’s so amazing. I must have seen it like a thousand times. Well let’s just say I know it by heart. And it gets me every time. Must be so much fun to record an album that way. Well I’m about to dose off so… just a few more songs and I’ll fall a zzz… zzz… zzz…

February 16th

An oldie… Isn’t that enough from the two thousand and seven sessions. Still a funny story that I just stood in front of the Mic and plugged in my SG and played this song from the top of my head. No lyrics what so ever. Just some chords I was playing with at that time.

It’s not the best thing… But still, I like it because it’s very pure and just really into the moment. This video used to be on the homepage for some time.. but I found it while trying to restructure this site… so here it is again!

February 14th

So It’s not the best shot… but what do you expect on a Sunday night;) Already it’s Sunday, time flies when one’s having fun. Well tomorrow I’m going to the Veils in Amsterdam. Which is going to be absolutely great! Have seen them for like 6 or 7 times now but still I love seeing them live. But first I’ve got to go to work… so maybe it’s a good plan to tune out a little early today. It has been some of a busy weekend… but a very good one. From starter to finish.

Luckily I’m free on Tuesday. So that gives me some space to record some new tunes. Which I totally had no time for this weekend… although it was planned for. Well I did record the “Snail Trail” one… but who’s counting that one and what for? Although I think it’s great in my mind, cuss I was thinking of this ugly Valentine song and somehow managed to record it. But then again, who knows how you are about stuff like that.

Anyways I’m off… see y’all soon.

February 6th…

Weekend! OMG… was totally up for that. So tired. But I’m fit a after a good night sleep. And tonight I’m going with some friends to a Stereophonics gig. And later on a visit to our friends “Meet” and of course “Greet”. So today I’m catching up on some Phonics… hadn’t played these guys in a while.

My guess is that it’s going to be loads of fun and maybe a beer or two. Well… definitely maybe;) So I’m out of time and out of coffee. Until the next time!
